Sounds simple, doesn’t it? And yet, many people still don’t understand how simple it is to “go green”. They don’t realize what an impact they can have on the environment by making a few simple changes at home. They also are missing out on lower utility bills, reduced household waste and less money spent at the gas pump. Environmental issues affect how our citizens live, work and play. Environmental issues affect the livability and health of our community, our nation and our world.
The City of Garland and the Garland Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to bring valuable environmental and conservation information to our citizens. Garland Goes Green, Garland’s first one-day, environmental expo, debuted April 19, 2008. Hosted by Firewheel Town Center, Garland Goes Green brought together:
Local, state and national organizations that educate and inform our citizens on environmental issues;
Local businesses that provide sustainable solutions to environmental issues;
Companies that have implemented fundamental changes in the way that they do business, in order to be more socially and environmentally responsible;
and entertainment and presenters designed to change the way we think about conservation and inspire change in our daily lives.
