In October 2007, Water Utilites received the Best of Texas Award given by the Center for Digital Government for Best Technology Solution Serving Business Objectives. The Work Management and Notification System was judged as winner in this category for innovation, cost savings and advancement in communications.
2006
In June 2006, Water Utilities received recognition as an innovator in Local Government from The Innovative Group (IG). Presenting the award is Texas Regional IG Director Froswa' Booker-Drew to Jack May, Managing Director of Water, Wastewater, Wastewater Treatment and Facilities Management. Water Utilities received the national recognition for their innovative use of GIS technology as a base map for facilitating vehicle tracking and work order management.
2004
The Garland Water Utilities Department was recognized for performance excellence in October 2004. The Garland Chamber of Commerce selected the City water utility as the recipient of the 2004 Garland Excellence Award. This annual award is presented to organizations that serve as role models for quality, customer satisfaction, and performance excellence in Garland.
