The Page Turners Book Discussion Group

Thursday, January 22, 7 p.m. at the Central Library

Gilead by Marilynne Robinson

In 1956, toward the end of Rev. John Ames’s life, he begins a long letter to his young son, an account of himself and his forebears.  It is a story about faith, love, history and growing old.  The drama unfolds slowly while illuminating the beauty of an ordinary life lived with integrity.  “Serene, profound, spiritual.”

Are you a Page Turner? Would you like to be?

You Can Adopt-A-Shelf!

Would you like to help the Library stay organized and make sure the books are in the proper order on the shelves?  You can learn to "shelf-read"!

The ADOPT-A-SHELF class trains volunteers on how to help keep the Library shelves straightened.  Once you have been trained, you can volunteer at any of the five locations of the Library System.  You can pick the branch, time you wish to volunteer, and even adopt a section of your choice.  You can set up regular volunteer times or just drop in at your convenience.  Any help received is appreciated by Library personnel and allows them to perform other duties and better assist patrons.  A more complete explanation is available in a brochure at all Library locations.

This is a volunteer project sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
