Low
(Green)

· Develop a personal disaster plan and disaster supplies kit
· Develop an emergency communication plan
· Take a CPR and first aid course

 
Guarded
(Blue)

· Complete recommended actions from previous level
· Be alert to suspicious activity and report it to proper authorities
· Review stored disaster supplies and replace items that are outdated
· Develop an emergency communication plan that family members understand
· Establish an alternate meeting away from home with family and/or friends

 
 
Elevated
(Yellow)

· Complete recommended actions from previous level
· Ensure disaster supplies kit is stocked an ready
· Check telephone numbers and addresses in your family emergency communication plan and update as necessary
· If not known, contact schools/work to determine emergency notification and evacuation plans for the facility
· Develop alternate routes to and from school/work and practice them

 
 
High
(Orange)

· Complete recommended actions from previous level
· Review disaster plan with all family members
· Ensure communication plan is practiced and understood by all family members
· Exercise caution while traveling
· Have shelter in place materials on hand and understand how to properly shelter
· Discuss family member fears concerning possible terrorist attacks

(Red)

· Complete recommended actions from previous level
· Listen to radio/TV for current information and instructions
· Contact work/school to determine the status for work/school day
· Adhere to any travel restrictions announced by government authorities
· Be prepared to shelter in place or evacuate if instructed to do so
· Discuss family member fears concerning possible/actual terrorist attacks
