Vaccine Information

Due to system maintenance, the Vaccine Call Center (972-205-3900) will open at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 18.

The Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) has recently announced that all adults will be eligible for COVID vaccinations.

Anyone age 18 or older can get the COVID vaccine without an appointment at our Public Health Clinic, 206 Carver Drive from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. this Friday, as well as Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday next week (week of April 19).

The Garland Health Department (GHD) will host a drive-through vaccination event at the Garland Fire Training Facility, 1500 Highway 66, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 17. To better manage traffic flow, everyone is asked to take Commerce Street off of Centerville Road to access the facility (see map).

No appointments are required for this opportunity to receive your first dose of Moderna vaccine. However, to speed up the vaccination process, please print a vaccine registration form and bring the completed form with you.

Those who are scheduled to receive their second Moderna dose at the stadium will still receive their vaccine as scheduled.

Anyone who is medically unable to come to the clinic or a mass vaccination event may contact the Garland Health Department at 972-205-3900 to make alternative arrangements.

Monitor the City’s Twitter and Facebook pages, as well as this page, for vaccination availability updates.

GHD has received and administered the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine consists of two doses. The second dose should be administered 28 days after the initial dose. However, second doses administered as early as 24 days after the initial dose are still considered valid. Per CDC recommendations, you have up to 6 weeks (42 days) after the first dose to receive the second dose. With GHD, you do not need to re-register for the second dose. We will contact you with appointment information.

When you receive the vaccine please ensure the second dose is the same type. Please use the V-Safe Health Checker if you have a smart phone. Save the card provided at your first vaccination to keep track of which vaccine you received. GHD does not provide replacement cards.

It is critical that everyone continue to practice personal protective measures to prevent disease spread until vaccines are widely distributed throughout our nation.
